Spend a lot of time ogling other people’s bodies in the gym? Well, you’re in luck, there’s now a dating app for people who love to work out.

Dubbed the “Tinder for fitness fanatics”, ‘Sweatt’ matches people based on their exercise habits – including type of exercise, workout frequency and preferred time of day to hit the gym.

The app still matches people based on all the typical criteria – age, gender, sexual orientation, location and appearance – but in a community of people a similar approach to a healthy lifestyle.

Let’s face it, most of the time dating involves going out and getting pissed in a bar, and there are many who would prefer juice to Jägerbombs or a gym class to a club – especially in January.

The app is heavily imaged-based (allowing users to show off their abs) and operates using a swiping Tinder-like function. Matches or ‘sweatt’s, expire after 21 days of inactivity to keep engagement up-to-date and ensure users stay active.

Dan Ilani, the app’s founder, believes that finding like-minded people increases the chance of a meeting someone.

“Fitness is so much more than the time we spend working out. Our commitment to fitness dictates so many of the choices we make on a daily basis. Chances of compatibility are heightened when you choose to date people with shared interests, lifestyles and mindsets,” he said in a statement.

“People have developed this love/hate relationship with dating apps because while they are a great platform to connect, they are also filled with people who aren’t serious and just aren’t good matches. Instead of making life easier, they often feel like they create more disappointment. Sweatt solves that problem by bringing together a community of like-minded people.”

The app launched in December last year and there is currently a waiting list.

Who knows? You could be the next Insta-fit couple. Happy swiping.
